On August 27, the U.S. State Department approved the sale of 180 AIM-120 C-7 Advanced Medium Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAM) to Hungary. First developed in 1998, the AIM-120 C-7 is capable of striking airborne targets at ranges of around 25 km when ground-launched and 100 km when air-launched. The deal, which includes four spare guidance and control sections, is estimated to cost $500 million.
