On April 16, North Korea appeared to launch two short-range missiles from its east coast. Photos released by North Korean media suggest that the tested missiles resembled the KN-23 short-range ballistic missile. According to South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff, the missiles ranged approximately 110 km and reached an altitude of 25 km. The test marks North Korea’s twelfth in 2022 and comes days after the United States deployed an aircraft carrier in the waters between the Korean Peninsula and Japan.
