On June 25, two Israeli air-to-surface missiles struck near the Damascus international airport from the Golan Heights area. Reports indicated the target was likely a shipment of weapons intended for delivery to Iran-backed, Hezbollah-affiliated fighters in Syria, but confirmation about damages was unavailable. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported than an attempted missile intercept by Syrian air defenses was unsuccessful. Syrian state media has not confirmed that an intercept attempt was made, but video released online alleges to show Syrian air defenses opening fire on the incoming missiles.
