On October 1, the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps launched a total of six Zolfaghar and Qiam-1 missiles from its western Kermanshah region on ISIL locations in Syria’s Deir al-Zour province. Iranian state media reported that the strike killed a number of actors and planners of a September 22 terrorist attack on an Iranian military parade in Ahvaz where more than 80 people were killed or injured. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed that some missiles impacted in the Hajin area of Deir al-Zour but did not report the number of strikes. Unconfirmed reports and videos on social media suggest that some of the missiles may have landed within Iranian territory. U.S. coalition forces stationed in the region reported they are assessing the resulting damage.
