On March 21, an Arab Coalition fighter jet was targeted by a Houthi surface-to-air missile (SAM) launched from Saada airport. Spokesman for the Arab Coalition Turki al-Maliki said the fighter was able to complete its mission, return fire to the SAM location, and return to its base unharmed. It is unclear whether the Houthi air defense system was an older model provided by the Soviet Union, or a more recent one from Iran.
