On April 3, Houthi militants in Yemen hit a Saudi Arabian oil tanker with a missile. The vessel, a Saudi-flagged super tanker “Abqaiq” owned by Saudi shipping group Bahri, was reportedly attacked while in international waters west of Al Hudaydah port. The ship was able to complete its planned course while accompanied by a coalition warship. Houthi-run media said the attack was retribution for coalition airstrikes on civilian populations in Yemen.
