On July 25, Houthi militants targeted two Saudi oil tankers sailing near the Bab al-Mandeb Strait off Yemen’s west coast with antiship missiles, the type of which is currently unknown. An official Saudi statement reported the attack occurred in international waters outside the Port of Hodeidah where Arab Coalition ships conducted an “intervention”, but did not specify the counteraction taken. Saudi shipping company Bahri confirmed the attack, reporting that one of its Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC) sustained minor damage without crew casualties. Saudi Arabia has temporarily cease oil transport through the Strait. Houthi sources reported the target was the Saudi warship Damman, but did not provide details on the result of the attack.
