According to Brig. Gen. Robert Rasch, Deputy Program Executive Officer, Missiles and Space, the U.S. Army will increase Hellfire missile production by 2019 to keep pace with upgrades to the weapon and the growing demand for the missile. The Hellfire is regularly used to target terrorists and other high-value targets around the globe, fired from attack drones such as the Air Force Predator and Reaper and the Army’s Gray Eagle. In recent years, it has also been fired from a variety of platforms, such as the Navy’s Littoral Combat Ship (LCS) and an Army truck-mounted Multi-Mission Launcher. The widespread multi-service and international use of the weapon has significantly depleted the existing inventory.
