Senate Confirms Major General James Dickinson to Head Army Space and Missile Defense Command


On December 12, 2016, the Senate confirmed Major General James Dickinson, previously the chief of staff of U.S. Strategic Command, as the new commanding general of the U.S. Army’s Space and Missile Defense Command and the Army Forces Strategic Command. Major General Dickinson will also be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General. Including having served as the Director for Test at the Missile Defense Agency on Redstone Arsenal and as the Deputy to the Inspector General at the Pentagon, Major General Dickinson has commanded both the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Bliss, Texas, and the 94th Army Air and Missile Defense Command at Fort Shafter, Hawaii. Major General Dickinson will be replacing Lieutenant General David Mann.
