India Signs Deal for Two Russian-Built Guided Missile Frigates

On October 30, reports emerged that India completed a deal with Russia to acquire two Admiral Grigorovich-class (Project 11356/Talwar-class) guided-missile frigates currently under construction in Kaliningrad to be delivered in 2022. The $950 million dollar contract also includes a technology transfer to Indian state-owned Goa shipyard for the indigenous construction of an additional two frigates. The Project 11356 frigates will be equipped with supersonic BrahMos cruise missiles which were jointly developed by India and Russia.
