Belarus Develops TRIO Surface-to-Air Missile System

On April 22, Belarusian officials announced their country has completed development of the TRIO surface-to-air missile (SAM) system. According to a government press release, the system is designed “to protect small sites and industrial installations, ground army units, and destroy compact flying targets, including drones.” The TRIO includes an upgraded 9K35 Strela-10 (NATO: SA-13 Gopher) SAM system, Shilka (ZSU-23-4) self-propelled anti-aircraft gun (SPAAG), and Berserk machine gun.
