US to Modify Aircraft for Ballistic Missile Defense Tests

On July 20, the Department of Defense announced that it would adjust a contract to repurpose three Gulfstream IIB aircraft to assist in ballistic missile defense testing. According to the DoD press release, L-3 will now “procure three used aircraft required to modernize the High Altitude Observatory systems (HALO) systems used by the Missile Defense Agency to collect electro-optic and infrared imagery during tests of the Ballistic Missile Defense System.”
