On February 23, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi approved a $2.5 billion purchase of Israel’s multi-range surface-to-air missile system (MR-SAM). The deal includes 40 firing units and 200 missiles, each with a strike range of 70 km. The project, to be jointly developed by the Indian Defense Research and Development Organization and the Israeli Aircraft Industry, is the most recent in a series of weapons transactions between the countries over the past several years. The jointly-developed system will be developed in India and is scheduled to be deployed in 2023.
