On February 27, 2017, Iranian Defense Minister Hossein Dehqan confirmed that Iran has successfully test-launched its newest marine cruise missile over the southern waters of the Persian Gulf. The test comes during the Velayat 95 naval exercises, part of the annual naval drills undertaken by Tehran. According to Dehqan, “the newest marine cruise missile, dubbed ‘Nasir,’ was launched and hit the target successfully during the massive military drill in the country’s southern waters.” Additionally, reports indicate Iran may have also test-launched a Dehlaviyeh, a laser-guided antiship cruise missile.
